Five Days of Smoothie Bowls
Here, find a smoothie bowl recipe for each day in the work week!
In efforts to keep every bowl vegan and gluten-free, there are no added protein powders or other dietary supplements. However, some of my favorite additions for some extra protein and nutrients are Vital Proteins’ Collagen Peptides and Arbonne’s FeelFit Pea Protein.
Top any of these bowls with your treats of choice! My favorites include fresh fruits, raw almonds, coconut flakes, cacao nibs, and my homemade granola (recipe linked here).
Monday’s Belly Bowl
Mondays are for new beginnings, kicking back into routine, and detoxing from the weekend. With this smoothie base, ‘detox’ becomes a whole lot more appetizing. Nix nasty, bitter greens in favor of papaya and cantaloupe, two sweet fruits that have great gut health, digestion, and immunity properties thanks to the enzyme papain as well as a good balance of soluble and insoluble fibers. Meanwhile, ginger and flaxseed are tried-and-true homeopathic treatments for stomach-related issues.
1 cup frozen papaya*
1/2 cup frozen cantaloupe*
1/2 frozen banana
1 inch knob fresh ginger
1 tbsp flaxseed
cinnamon to taste
optional handful of ice
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
*These fruits are nearly impossible to find in the grocery store pre-frozen, so buy it fresh, slice at home, and freeze!
Tropical Tuesday
Taco Tuesdays are great, but have you ever celebrated Tropical Tuesday? Well, that’s about to change. With this smoothie bowl I love the balance of sweet and tart between the banana and mango. Plus, with such flavorful fruits, you’re able to sneak some extra greens in there which may turn your smoothie a pretty sage color, but is hidden in the flavor profile (I promise).
1 frozen banana
3/4 cup frozen mango
handful of spinach
handful of ice
1 inch knob fresh ginger
2-4 drops stevia extract
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Wellness Wednesday
Whoever said eating healthy comprised flavor was lying and this bowl proves it! The pitaya (aka dragonfruit) is very high in nutrients such as fiber, iron and vitamins C and E, papaya aids in digestion, and coconut water is a great source of hydration.
1 Sambazon pitaya superfruit packet
1/2 cup frozen papaya
1/2 cup coconut meat or 1/4 cup coconut cream*
1 inch knob of ginger
1 tbsp pure maple syrup
1 cup coconut water
*Make sure there are no hidden additives in your coconut cream! The only ingredients should be coconut (and maybe water).
Treat Yourself Thursday
Nothing gets you through the ladder part of the week quite like a sweet pick-me-up and this smoothie bowl does just the trick. Think: ice pop for adults, but in a bowl!
1 Sambazon unsweetened superfruit packet
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
handful of spinach
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
optional 1-3 drops of Stevia extract
Feel Good Friday
This filling smoothie tastes more like dessert, which is why it earned the honorary Friday spot! What I really love is that simply with an overripe banana and pure maple syrup you can satisfy a sweet tooth with natural sugars from wholesome, nutrient-dense ingredients. Try this once and I guarantee you’ll be hooked!
1/2 cup mashed sweet potato
1 cup frozen mango
1/2 frozen banana
1 tsp pure maple syrup
cinnamon to taste
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
